Week of January 13th

This has been a very exciting week in the art room for every grade!

First Grade

This week the first graders worked with clay! Students learned about texture and how to create texture using clay tools. For our project, students learned the "pinch pot method" and created clay monsters with various textures.

Second Grade
Second graders learned about printmaking  and used a subtractive printmaking technique to create mandalas. Students also explored color mixing by layering multiple colors in their prints.

Third Grade

For the past two weeks, students have been learning about Keith Haring and his use of line to create movement in his work. Then students created their own Keith Haring inspired movement strips using pastel.

Fourth Grade

Fourth graders learned about "Zentangle" and created their own unique zentangles using the elements of zentangle such as lines and patterns. Using only black markers and pencils, each student created a unique piece.

Fifth Grade

For the past two weeks, fifth graders have been learning about Pop Art and iconic images. In particular, we looked at work by Roy Lichtenstein. Then students chose an onomatopoeia and illustrated their work in the style of Lichtenstein.
